Mayor Kern Meets with Rödermark Business Owners' Forum

Mutual introductions and the exchange of experience were on the agenda of the Rödermark Business Owners' Forum meeting at the host company Hitzel Oberflächentechnik GmbH & Co.'s facilities on February 21, 2006, to which the Mayor of the city of Rödermark, Mr. Roland Kern, was an invited guest.
"We are very interested in a regular exchange of information with the representatives of the city of Rödermark," Martin Schneller, Speaker for the Rödermark Business Owners' Forum, formulated the business owners' motivation in inviting the Mayor to one of the regular work meetings of the Business Owners' Forum. "Our companies want to be more to the city than silent producers of business taxes!" said Stefanie Hagenlocher, Speaker for the Business Owners' Forum. "We consider ourselves to be economically and socio-politically responsible and expect a conscientious debate on the situation of the companies here with our counterparts on the municipal level."

After the tour of the galvanization company and internal reports, the topic of "Child Care - Management's Responsibility?" was on the agenda, a subject "we as business owners cannot ignore in the long term, if we place value in our companies' human resources on employee continuity and the retention of company know-how," said Kerstin Hunkel-Hitzel, CEO of the host company Hitzel Oberflächentechnik. Although the situation in Rödermark is reportedly very good in comparison with neighboring communities, "I see a considerable need for concepts for integrated childcare, including in the evenings, on holidays and especially in the before-school period," added Ulrike Kriegsch, also CEO of Hitzel Oberflächentechnik GmbH & Col KG. A task force will be created in order to understand the current care offerings and to compare them with the needs of the companies and their employees. Mayor Kern voluntarily assured the task force of his support in seeking the information.

The Rödermark Business Owners' Forum was originally created under the working title of "Top 20" in November 2002, to stimulate business development in the city of Rödermark. Since that time, responsible decision makers from 20 Rödermark companies have met several times each year to discuss management issues, to realize cooperative possibilities and to coordinate socio-political engagements.
For example, numerous member companies of the Business Owners' Forum supported the entry of the Oswald-von-Nell-Breuning School into the full-day school program in the spring of 2005, with a total of 4,500.00 EUR. The financial resources were used by the Europe school to establish and professionalize full-day supervision.
During a constitutive meeting in October 2005, the member companies agreed upon previously developed guidelines for collaboration and have acted since that time under the name of Rödermark Business Owners' Forum.
